JoinPTA.org FAQs for Local PTAs

Texas PTA is proud to provide all Local PTA’s this free platform to help grow your membership. Your PTA is not required to use JoinPTA.org, however, we encourage you to give people the opportunity to join in as many ways as possible. Remember it is no cost to your PTA, and people can join online anytime using a debit or credit card.

How will I know when someone joins my PTA?

1. Login to your myPTEZ account. 
2. Look for the Admin button (upper right).
3. Choose Membership Management from the dropdown list.
4. All current year members will be listed on the screen.
5. Click Print Directory (lower left) to pull and print a list of all current year members.
6. To exclude members that may have been added manually, uncheck “From PTA” in the Source section. 
7. Choose the EXCEL format to print a list that can be sorted by the different fields.

When and how will my PTA receive payment for the local portion of dues for each member?

• Texas PTA will withhold the member’s national and state dues. There is no need to remit those to the state.
• Once a month, within seven business days of month end, Texas PTA will pay the Local portion of the dues via ACH to the bank account you provided in the ACH Authorization Agreement. This payment will cover all JoinPTA.org transactions for the previous month.
• Texas PTA will email your President when payment is made and include the number of members joined and amount paid.
• You can verify accuracy and see which members joined each month by sorting the Print Directory Report (mentioned above) by paid date. 
• While the exact wording may vary by financial institution, these deposits will show up in your account with something similar to this: “ACH Deposit TEXAS CONGRESS O jnpta date."

How are dues calculated or changed on JoinPTA.org? 

• The local dues listed in your bylaws is added to state and national dues amounts.
• If your membership approves a change to the local portion of your dues, that amendment must be submitted to Texas PTA at www.txpta.org/bylaws. Once that submission is processed by Texas PTA, the local portion of your dues will automatically be updated on JoinPTA.org. Any changes to the state and national portions of dues will be automatically updated in your profile. Please contact memberservices@txpta.org if you believe your dues do not match your current bylaws. 

Can my PTA provide a variety of price options (such as a family membership or discounted membership for students/seniors) through JoinPTA.org?

• Only standard, individual memberships are available through JoinPTA.org.

How many members can join per transaction on JoinPTA.org?

• Up to six members can join one PTA in a single transaction on JoinPTA.org. Members can only join one PTA per transaction.

How many PTAs can be joined per transaction on JoinPTA.org?

• Members cannot join more than one PTA in a single transaction. They must complete a transaction for each PTA they wish to join.

How much will someone pay to join my PTA on JoinPTA.org?

• They will pay the local dues amount in your bylaws, and $5.00 for state and national dues. Additionally, there is a $1.50 processing fee for each transaction. 

Can someone request a refund from JoinPTA.org?

• Members must request the refund from their Local PTA.
• Local PTAs must follow the Dues Refund Policy.

What if we change our bank account?

• Please submit an updated ACH Authorization Agreement.

How can my PTA participate?

• Your Treasurer should complete the ACH Authorization Agreement.
• Allow Texas PTA seven-ten business days to process your request.
• Your PTA President should be watching for an email from ‘no-reply@greystep.com’ with login credentials to your myPTez account.

Why should my PTA use JoinPTA.org? 

• Texas PTA frequently promotes JoinPTA.org. In the event that someone sees an invitation from Texas PTA and wants to join, it is important that your PTA is listed on JoinPTA.org. 
• JoinPTA.org is provided to all local PTAs in at no charge, courtesy of Texas PTA.
• Members do not need to create a profile or connect themselves to a student on your campus.
• Joining online is quick and easy!
• Anyone can join your PTA from anywhere in the world.
• There is no need to worry about personal checks or cash.
• Digital membership cards are sent automatically.
• Members who join on JoinPTA.org will be automatically reported and remitted to Texas PTA, reducing the workload for your volunteers.
• Joining IN PERSON continues to be the most popular way for people to join PTA. Please continue to use the traditional membership table and conduct other traditional membership campaigns so people can join on the spot. Consider offering traditional paper forms and QR Codes or laptops for community member to join on JoinPTA.org at your IN PERSON events.
