The Texas PTA Family & Student Engagement Impact Award recognizes PTAs that go above and beyond to strengthen family and student engagement. These PTAs foster meaningful connections, remove barriers to participation, and ensure their work is mission-driven and accessible in the areas of membership, leadership, program content, advocacy, training, partnerships, and communications.

When is the deadline to
submit 
an application?

The application must be submitted by April 25 at 11:59 p.m.
How long does it take to apply?

Once you have all your information gathered, the application process should take less than 30 minutes. Application must be completed in one sitting.

Who can apply for the TX PTA
FSEI Impact Award?

Local or Council PTAs can apply.*

In order to be eligible, a Local or Council PTA must be in good standing as defined by the Standards of Continuing Affiliation.

What do I need to fill out
the application?

Below are the items you need to complete the application. 

  • Your Texas PTA ID# (Find Yours Here
  • Name(s) and contact information for key contact(s), PTA members, and leaders who participated in reaching the achievement(s). 
  • Responses to the narrative questions, each with a 350-word maximum.*

*Recommendation: Since the application must be completed in one sitting, we recommend typing out the narratives onto a word file and saving for your records.

What are the Effort
questions on the
application?
  • Met with administration to discuss ways to strengthen family and student engagement
  • Assessed family and student engagement in your community (formally or informally)
  • Recruited new PTA leaders to reflect the broader school community
  • Hosted a family-friendly event designed to welcome and engage more families
  • Offered translators at a meeting or event
  • Offered accommodations to ensure all families could fully participate in an event (e.g., childcare,
    flexible scheduling)
  • Made accessibility a priority at an event (e.g., physical access, sensory-friendly spaces)
  • Translated and adapted PTA communications to reach more families
What are the narrative
questions on the
application?

Below are the long-form questions from the application. 

  • Describe how your PTA focused on strengthening family and student engagement by fostering meaningful connections, removing barriers, and ensuring your work is mission-driven and accessible.
  • Explain the outcomes and impact of your efforts.
  • How does your PTA plan to continue its work to strengthen family and student engagement?
  • OPTIONAL: Share any photos, recognition, feedback, and/or a 30-to-50-word quote on how this project impacted the community. (If you add pictures, videos, or documents for us to access, be sure the permissions allow public sharing.)
Winner Selection and Recognition Questions & Answers
How will the Outstanding Impact winners
be selected?

Texas PTA reviews all applications of PTAs that are in good standing and one winner will be selected from each category: 

  • Council
  • Local PTA

When will the Outstanding Impact winners be announced? 

Winners will be announced in May.

What do winners receive?

PTAs that submit an award entry and complete at least two activities from the Effort section will be eligible for:

  • A digital badge to proudly display on your social profile
  • Badge ribbons at LAUNCH

 One Council PTA and one Local PTA will each receive: 

  • On-Stage Recognition at LAUNCH
  • Digital certificates for PTA members named in the application
     

I cannot attend LAUNCH.
Can I still win?

Yes! If you are selected and are unable to attend, another member from your campus or council can accept the award on your behalf. If no member from your PTA is able to attend LAUNCH, your PTA will still be publicly recognized for its accomplishment.
