Questions on JoinPTA.org

Watch a quick video tutorial here.

JoinPTA.org is a mobile-friendly website where anyone can easily join your PTA using a credit or debit card. JoinPTA.org is managed by Texas PTA and is free to PTAs in Texas. When a member joins on JoinPTA.org, they will be added to the Local PTA’s myPTEZ account immediately.

myPTEZ (formerly PTAEZ – new name, same great functionality) is a company that has provided a free, cloud-based membership tracking system to all PTAs in Texas that are using JoinPTA.org. myPTEZ also offers fee-based financial management solutions for your PTA.

Have questions? We have the answer! Check out some frequently asked questions below.

Q1: How can my PTA participate?

To be included on JoinPTA.org, your Treasurer should complete this form (click here). The form requires the following:

  1. The name of your Local PTA
  2. Your PTA’s Texas PTA ID number
  3. The name of your school district
  4. Your PTA’s bank name, city, and state
  5. Your routing number and bank account number
  6. A copy of a voided blank check or other bank documentation of your account number and routing number

Your PTA is not required to use JoinPTA.org, however, we encourage you to give people the opportunity to join in as many ways as possible. Remember it is no cost to your PTA, and people can join online anytime using a debit or credit card.

Q2: After my PTA has completed the ACH Authorization Agreement, in order to participate in JoinPTA.org, what are our next steps?

It will take Texas PTA 7-10 business days to verify the information and process your request. The PTA President should be watching for an email from ‘no-reply@greystep.com’ with login credentials.

Q3: Why should I sign up to be on JoinPTA.org?

Even if your PTA is using another system to join or track memberships, there are advantages to using, or also using, JoinPTA.org. The benefits of activating are numerous, including:

Q4: What if we change our bank account?

Please submit an updated ACH Authorization Agreement (click here).

Q5: Membership dues are wrong on JoinPTA.org. How are those calculated or changed?

If your membership approves a bylaws amendment to change the local portion of your dues, that amendment must be submitted to Texas PTA at www.txpta.org/bylaws. Once that submission is processed by Texas PTA, the local portion of your dues will automatically be updated on JoinPTA.org. Any changes to the state and national portions of dues will be automatically updated in your profile. Please contact memberservices@txpta.org if you believe your dues do not match your current bylaws.

Q6: Can my PTA provide a variety of price options (such as a family membership or discounted membership for students/seniors) through JoinPTA.org?

Only standard, individual memberships are available through JoinPTA.org.

Q7: How many members can join per transaction on JoinPTA.org?

Up to six members can join one PTA in a single transaction on JoinPTA.org. Members can only join one PTA per transaction.

Q8: How many PTAs can be joined per transaction on JoinPTA.org?

Members cannot join more than one PTA in a single transaction. They must complete a transaction for each PTA they wish to join.

Q9: How will I know when someone joins my PTA?

Login to your myPTEZ account for a full list of members who have joined at JoinPTA.org. Choose Membership Management from the dropdown list under the Admin button (upper right).

All current year members will be listed on the screen. Click Print Directory (lower left) to pull and print a list of all current year members. To exclude members that may have been added manually, uncheck “From PTA” in the Source section. Choose the EXCEL format to print a list that can be sorted by the different fields. NOTE: This report will include the member-Paid Date so you know when the member joined and can match up the number of members joined in a given month to the ACH payments from Texas PTA.

Additionally, if you receive an ACH payment from Texas PTA, that will indicate that members joined your PTA during the prior month.

Q10: How much will someone pay to join my PTA on JoinPTA.org?

They will pay the local dues amount in your bylaws, and $4.50 for state and national dues. Additionally, there will be a $1.50 processing fee for each sales transaction.

Q11: Can someone request a refund from JoinPTA.org?

Texas PTA will refund dues received via JoinPTA.org only if both of the following criteria are met:

Q12: How and how often will my PTA receive the local portion of payments made through JoinPTA.org?

Payment will be made once a month via ACH to the bank account you have provided Texas PTA. Payment will be within 7 business days of months end. This payment will cover all JoinPTA.org transactions for the previous month.

Q13: How will these funds appear on my PTA’s bank statement?

While the exact wording may vary by financial institution, these deposits will show up in your account with something similar to this: “ACH Deposit TEXAS CONGRESS O jnpta date."

Q14: When my PTA receives these funds from Texas PTA, should we remit back to Texas PTA the state and national dues?

No! For any member who joined on JoinPTA.org, Texas PTA will automatically withhold the member’s national and state dues before depositing the local portion of dues into your PTA’s bank account. Furthermore, there is no need to include the names of people who signed up through JoinPTA.org in any paper rosters that you submit to Texas PTA.

Q15: How will I know which members are covered in each local dues payment from Texas PTA?

Login to your myPTEZ account.

Within 7 business days after the end of each month, Texas PTA will transfer the local dues collected to your PTA bank account. This payment will cover all JoinPTA.org transactions for the previous month.

Q16: What happens if someone selects “Life Member” when signing up to join my PTA on JoinPTA.org?

They will be prompted to pay your Local PTA dues amount as well as $2.25 in national dues. Texas PTA is able to verify whether this person actually has “Life Member” status.

Q17: Should my PTA tell prospective members to visit JoinPTA.org in order to sign up for my PTA?

This is a great way for people to join your PTA and it is important that your PTA gives prospective members the ability to join in a variety of ways. When promoting membership in WRITING (newsletters, website, social media, posters, etc.), including the link to www.JoinPTA.org makes joining easy.

Joining IN PERSON continues to be the most popular way for people to join PTA. So, please continue to conduct traditional membership campaigns so people can join on the spot, either through a traditional paper form or by your providing laptops for them to sign up right there through JoinPTA.org.
